Virginia Belle (Nelson) Ochsendorf

Ochsendorf, Virginia Belle (Nelson) age 86, of Minneapolis passed away Wed, July 1. She was born in Aberdeen, SD; the 11th child of Peter and Bessie Nelson and the last of the children to survive. She graduated from Central High School in 1946, and in 1947 moved to Washington D.C. to live with her brother and family. She worked for the U.S. Army under General Eisenhower's term as Chief of Staff and met many of the heroes of WW II. She then moved to the Los Angeles area to be with her parents and sisters. She married and traveled with her former husband who was in the Air Force. They were living in the Netherlands at the time of President Kennedy's assassination. They moved back to the States and to Minneapolis. She has been a proud citizen of this great city since then. She worked for the Sam Courey Law Firm and retired in 1991. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon and Elder. She was a very humble and blessed member of Bill W's fellowship since January 1976. Virginia is survived by nephews and nieces: Carl Faust, Sherri Gifford, Sarah Karnes, Robert Nelson, David Mack, Sue Vettor, John Nelson and Karen Meeks, extended family and many close friends. Memorial service will be held Thursday, July 9, at 11 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave, Minneapolis MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be directed to Westminster Presbyterian Church; the FEAST Program or the Nicollet Square Project.
