Haas, William James age 78, of Excelsior, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 21, 2015. William was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI and passed away peacefully from cancer in Chaska.He was preceded in death by his mother, father and two brothers. He is survived by his loving companion of 26 years, Suzanne Muske of Chanhassen; three children from an earlier marriage, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother and sister; many nieces, nephews and cousins. William proudly served in the U.S.C.G in Alaska and graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Business Administration. He served as a Scout Executive with the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He later became an Operations Analyst for Consultants International. He was an accomplished, sleight of hand Magician and known for his presentations. In his latter years he became a Santa's Helper in Excelsior, delighting everyone he came in contact with and leaving the children with a "gold" dollar coin. Those lucky enough to have known William may not remember exactly what he said or did but they will always remember how he made them feel. He lived his life by both the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. He was so loved and will be terribly missed. His remains were willed to the University of Minnesota, School of Medicine. A memorial service will be planned for later in the year in Grand Rapids, MI.
