Mortenson, Phil A. age 73, of Richfield, died June 21, 2015. Phil had a strong desire to live to 100, but while the spirit was willing, his body ultimately failed. In the last year, he was diagnosed with cancer and COPD and fought courageously until his body gave out. Phil served his country valiantly and retired after a long and honorable career with the US Army. He was a passionate and active foot soldier for the Republican Party and it would take a platoon to fill his boots. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and step-daughter, Deanna Bublitz. He is survived by step-son, David Bublitz; siblings, John and Ann Mortenson; other loving relatives, and more friends than he could count. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 10 at 11 am at Washburn McReavy Bloomington (2300 W. Old Shakopee Rd) with a visitation one hour prior. Interment at Ft. Snelling to follow.
