Marshall, Mark Alan Born May 3, 1953, died May 17, 2015 at age 62. He was a 1971 graduate of Richfield High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mark was a natural athlete, a self-taught guitar player, and he prided himself in his mastery of the game of chess. He was a kind and generous person, with a clever sense of humor. For four decades he heroically battled the disease of paranoid schizophrenia. Rather than burden his family with the extremes of behavior that his disease brought on, he instead chose to distance himself by traveling and residing in various interesting and exotic locations throughout the United States and the world. Over the years Mark did remain in contact with his closest relatives--sister Kandy, brother Bob (Debbie) and brother Gary (Maria)--if not by direct communication, at least in spirit. He returned from Southeast Asia last fall, relocating to Hawaii, and it was there that he most recently was found to have advanced metastatic prostate cancer, to which he succumbed in a matter of two weeks. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Marshall, and his father, Edward Marshall. No services are planned at this time. Remember to hug those close to you.
