Earl R. Decker

Decker, Earl R. Plymouth, MN. One of Earl's favorite sayings was "Decker's Don't Quit". After a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's/ Lewy Body Dementia, Earl (known as "Deck") decided to rest peacefully above this cruel disease. Born December 8, 1931 at the age of 83 passed away on May 28, 2015 with his wife by his side. Preceded in death by his parents George & Martha, two brothers Bruce and Richard, and sister Betty Bicer. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan; daughter Kelly; and granddaughter Kylee. Earl was an excellent athlete in his early years and enjoyed all sports especially football, baseball, and boxing. He served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War and received a National Defense Service medal and Sharp Shooter award. Later became a manager and worked for several envelope & paper manufacturing companies in Minnesota and Pennsylvania. Retired from Georgia-Pacific in 1993 after 40 years of working. Earl loved time spent with family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and man. His kind and generous spirit will be greatly missed; however, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pottstown, PA to honor his wishes of being buried by his mother and father. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made in Earl Decker's name to the Lighthouse of Columbia Heights at 3801 Hart Blvd, Columbia Heights, MN 55421. The memory care facility at the Lighthouse of Columbia Heights cared for Earl during the last year of his life.
