Glenda Joyce Larson

Larson, Glenda Joyce Minneapolis, passed away on May 23, 2015, at the age of 70. She had lived gracefully with cancer for 19 years. Preceded in death by parents Gladys and Leslie Haversack. Survived by high school sweetheart and husband of 47 years Leonard; siblings Dennis Haversack, and Charlene Alexander; children Matthew Larson (Tracie), Kristen Larson (Cameron Boyd), and Kelsey Jarvinen (Aaron); beloved grandchildren Camden, Tessa, Collins, Fitz, Lachlan, Aurelia, Flynn, and Ruby; and many other close family and friends. Glenda graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1967 with a degree in nursing. She spent her career as a nurse for the Minneapolis Public Schools and touched many with her kindness, dedication, and friendship. She was a longtime member of the Minneapolis League of Women Voters and was committed to creating a better democracy through voter education and engagement. She was an avid reader and a member of two book clubs. She was a skilled seamstress and an adequate knitter. Glenda was proud of her Norwegian heritage and a member of the local chapter of the Daughters of Norway. She loved walks in the woods, coffee with friends, and seeing her grandchildren grow. She used almost any occasion (birthdays, holidays, Saturdays) to give gifts both small and large. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend whose concern for others was evident in all she did. We will love her and miss her forever and always. A celebration of Glenda's life will occur at 1 PM on Friday, June 5 at Mt Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave S, Minneapolis.
