Bertelson, Richard L. On May 2nd, a truly great man went on to the home of heroes and legends. Richard (Dick) Bertelson passed away in his home surrounded by his family at the age of 92. Dick was born in Minneapolis to Edith and Arthur Bertelson and was married for 64 years to his beautiful bride Audrey. Joining the Navy in 1941, he became a carrier-based fighter pilot and distinguished himself as a fighter ace. His work life was committed to second-generation leadership of Bertelson Brothers Office Supply. Dick was best known as a graceful and generous husband, friend, father and grandfather. Many beyond family called him dad. Dick was humble and hopeful, always offering encouragement. His mantra of "Keep the Faith" and his resilient spirit will live on in many. Dick was his family's champion and will be dearly missed. He was a loving father to Mark (Ann), Paul (Nan), Todd (Mary) and Beth (Paul) as well as a grandfather to Katie (Pete), Tory (Trisha), Drew, Brett, Brian, Lauren, Allie, Kristen, Emma and Joe. He was great-grandfather to Jasmine and Audrey. We invite friends and family to join us in the worship of God and the celebration of Dick's life. The Memorial Service will be held on May 8, at 11am at Colonial Church of Edina. 6200 Colonial Way Edina, Minnesota 55436. Visitation will be one hour prior to memorial service. Memorials may be given to Young Life Capernaum- Mpls. and The Pilgrim Center for Reconciliation.
