Umemura, Yaeko S. (Jackie) South Burlington, VT. Yaeko (Jackie) S. Umemura died peacefully on Sunday, April 19 in the hospital. Her parents, Yoshihei and Koto Shijo brought her into the world on August 8, the Year Of The Sheep, in Sacramento, CA. She is the last of the Shijos. During her 83 years she was in Heart Mountain, Wyoming Japanese Internment Camp during WW II, graduated from Central High School and the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN, and then pursued an exceptional career as an Occupational Therapist for 40 years, 35 of them in New York City. In 1977 she met her surviving soulmate, Ray McClure from Vermont, with whom she shared a loving relationship for almost 38 years, 27 of them long distance and her last 10 in Vermont. She is also survived by her niece Edwina (Skee) Nagahashi-Baer and her husband Joel, nephew Gerald Nagahashi and his wife Susan, nephew Vaughn Nagahashi and his wife Debbie, niece Pauline and her husband Shawn, and nephew Roger Shimada. Other family include great nieces Jessica, Karen, Amy and Keiko and great nephews Brian, Andrew, and Allen. She was a beautiful, caring, kind, upbeat human being who will be deeply missed by those fortunate to have known her. There will be no Funeral or Memorial Service.
