McMillan, Howard Ives, Jr. age 85, of Wayzata died peacefully at home Monday, April 20, 2015. He was born June 6, 1929, and lived most of his life in the Lake Minne- tonka area. Preceded in death by his father, Howard I. McMillan, Sr., mother, Mabel Langdon McMillan and brother, C. Langdon McMillan. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet Archambo McMillan; daughter, Tammis McMillan of Long Lake and grandsons, Alexander M. Vibbard and J. Monroe Vibbard; son, Howard I. McMillan III (Lili) of Orono and granddaughters, Katherine and Marguerite McMillan; and son, Robert Langdon McMillan of Boston, MA; sister, Elizabeth McMillan Ringer of Wayzata and sister-in-law, Helen Archambo Hield of Melbourne, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He graduated from Blake School, Hotchkiss School and Yale University '52. Howard enlisted in the Army and served in the Army Security Agency stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. After the war he joined in the family business, Osborne McMillan Grain Elevator Company from which he later purchased the assets to found his own company, The McMillan Company. He was a lifelong member of the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, The Minneapolis Club, and Woodhill Country Club. Memorial service at 11 AM on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Wayzata Community Church, 125 East Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.
