Trudy Peeps

Peeps, Trudy Age 94, of Mpls., individualist and British to the core, died peacefully in her home in Minneapolis on the morning of Sunday, April 12, 2015. Trudy was born on April 25, 1920 in South Shields, England to her parents Mary Jane and Ernest Davies. She married John Calder Peeps on July 26, 1945 in York, England. A heroic woman, Trudy served as Flight Sergeant in Britain's Women's Auxiliary Air Force during World War II, specializing in meteorology. She was awarded a British Empire Medal by King George VI in January 1945, and also received two Mentions in Despatches for her service. Trudy and John emigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1952, and subsequently moved to Minneapolis in 1959. Spirited and self-made, Trudy became a successful executive in marketing research, and worked for Campbell-Mithun in Minneapolis, Armour-Dial in Phoenix, and Westin Hotels in Seattle. Trudy approached life with vigor, courage, grace, kindness, humor, and intentionality. She loved travel, nature and music, was a marvelous cook, and cherished family gatherings and holidays - Christmas most especially! Trudy is survived by her three children, Gillian Schoonover (John), Stephen Peeps (Carolyn Manning), and Claire Peeps (Nathan Birnbaum) and six grandchildren: Heather Schoonover, Charles Schoonover (Marie Lee), Zoe Birnbaum, Aidan Birnbaum, Olivia Peeps and Graham Peeps. The gap she leaves for those who adored her is immense, but it will be filled with stories, laughter, memories and celebration of her long life, so very well lived. Her family wishes to thank the fantastic staff at Walker Place where she spent four most enjoyable years, her extraordinary Lifesprk care-givers and nurses who made her final years joyful, reassuring and fun, and all of her fabulous and revered doctors who got her so close to her 95th birthday. What a team! Her memorial service is scheduled at Walker Place, 3701 Bryant Ave. S., Minneapolis, on Saturday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Trudy's honor would be greatly welcomed to: The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska MN 55318 Attn: Memorials.
