Richard and Marilyn Carlson

Carlson, Richard A. and Marilyn E. Richard A. Carlson, age 92 and Marilyn E. Carlson, age 88, Shore-view, MN (formerly Richfield, MN). Within 12 hrs between Sunday, March 22 and Monday, March 23 first Richard and then Marilyn died peacefully and went to heaven. They were married for 67 yrs. Richard only had to wait a short time for them to be together again, this time for eternity. Love is eternal. They are survived by their children here on earth; Gary (Bonnie) Carlson, Kristi (Joel) Ahlstrom, Scott (Denise) Carlson, John (Sue) Carlson, 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Richard was born in Cokato, MN in 1922. He graduated from Cokato High School and attended the University of Minnesota. He married Marilyn Hendrickson in 1947. Marilyn was born in Mpls, MN. She lived her elementary to 11th grade years in Ellsworth, Wisc., graduated from Edison High School in Mpls, MN and attended Trinity Bible Institute in Mpls. Marilyn worked briefly at General Mills but was most proud to mother 4 active children. She was also active with Bible study groups for 50 yrs. Richard worked for General Mills for 25 yrs. He was recognized by General Mills and WCCO Radio twice with Good Citizen Awards for his significant and generous civic service. Richard served on the Richfield Board of Education for 25 years, the PTA, Hennepin County School Dist #287 executive board. Richard and Marilyn were also active at First Ev. Free Church. He served many leadership roles, including church secretary, treasurer, trustee, christian education board, and chairman of adult sunday school. After retiring they enjoyed trips to Arizona and most of all, time with their family. Illness later limited their travel, but they cherished Faith and Family, wanting to connect and know and recognize every child and grandchild's accomplishment. They prayed for all daily and their absence here is felt greatest for this commitment.
