Harms, Richard Wessel age 72, of Richfield passed away peacefully on March 25, 2015, in his home, surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Harms, step-mother, Alice Harms and brother, Arnold Harms. He is survived by his loving wife, Deb; sister, Sharon (Floyd) Mathiowetz; sister-in-law, Sandra Harms; sons, Reed and Ryan Harms, step-daughters, Stacey Rice (Teresa Thistle) and Stephanie Rice (Derek McMaster); grandchildren, Alyssa and Jason Harms, Shay Rice and Heather Thistle; brothers-in-law, Greg (Barb) Cornell, Brad Cornell, Randy (Pam) Cornell, Kevin (Kaylene) Cornell. Nephews and nieces, Penny (John) Hood, Charlie, Abby, Luke; Troy Harms; Sara (Rodney) Dick, Grace, Alex, Ella, Aiden; Joe (Tammy) Mathiowetz, Ben, Nora; Jonathan (Amy) Cornell, Christian, Annie; Peter Cornell; Allison (Matt) Broughton, Calvin; Jeffrey Cornell; Phillip and Cameron Cornell along with many other dear family and friends. Born in George, Iowa on April 24, 1942, where he lived until high school graduation. He enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam. He moved to Minneapolis and attended electronics school, moving to Richfield in 1966. He founded Slicer Controls that he successfully operated for 40 years. He liked designing and engineering anything that would make life more convenient. He enjoyed woodworking, gardens, travel, walking, any type of technology, history and current events. Most of all he loved his family and friends. We will miss his guidance, strength and that unforgettable smile. Services Tuesday, (March 31), at 10:30 AM, with visitation one hour prior at Hope Church, 7132 Portland Ave, Richfield.
