Harriett (Stewart) Koch

Koch, Harriett (Stewart) Age 94 of Edina, MN. Beloved wife, mother, and very special grandma (meme) went to be with the Lord on Monday March 23rd. Preceded in death by beloved husband Bob, siblings Edna and Gordy, and parents Gerda and Ira Stewart. Survived by children Connie (José) Sanmartín and Dan (Jackie) Koch, seven grandchildren and nine very special great-grandchildren. Harriett was a special friend to many. She was very active in her church (St. John's Lutheran in Minneapolis) for over 50 years. She was very generous with her time and her talents, and always willing to care for those in need. She was a wonderful role model to us all!! She loved interior decorating, gardening, entertaining and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Family was very important to her and she was very special to her family. Raised on a farm in Grove City, MN, she went to Mayo in Rochester for nurses training and there she met Bob, "the love of her life." Bob and Harriett were married while Bob was in the army during WII and after the war settled in the Twin Cities. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage until Bob's death in 2009. Special thanks to Kathy Anderson, her friend and caregiver. The family wishes to thank the many kind caregivers at Martin Luther Care Center who teased Meme and often made her smile. She was very active and healthy until a fall two years ago which confined her to a wheelchair full time. But now we know she's back "dancing with poppa and the angels!" Memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thurs. April 30th at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel with a reception to follow. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
