Friberg, Richard R. Age 77, passed away on 3/19/2015. He grew up in St. Louis Park and lived many years in Roseville. Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Friberg. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; sons Scott (Amy Florin) and Kenneth (Barbara); grandchildren Sam, Alex, Zoe Friberg; sisters-in-law Glorene Mjoness of Sterling, Virginia; Marvel Holland of Eden Prairie; niece, Nancy (Brad) Perlich, great niece Brittany Perlich; nephew, Mark (Susan) Mjoness; great nephew Matthew Mjoness (Meredith), Matthew Jr. Mjoness, great niece Jessica (Trevor) Fields, Lincoln Fields. Richard graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Minnesota with a PhD in Clinical Psychology. He interned at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. He worked at Ramsey Co Hospital's Outpatient Clinic. Then in private practice with Jon Weinberg. He joined RHR a consulting firm for businesses. He consulted to the Minnesota Correctional Facility -Lino Lakes, 1972 - 1997; to Minneapolis Rehabilitation Center, 1972-1993; he was Clinical Director of Carver County Mental Health Center, 1972-1977; consultant to Hennepin County Adult Correctional Facility 1974-2006; he consulted with Hennepin County Sheriff's Dept. covering HC Medical Examiners Office, HCMC personnel, HC Home School, Hennepin County Courts, Hennepin County Community Correction, 1984-2008. Richard was a lover of classical music, especially opera. He played the piano especially enjoying Shubert and Chopin. He gave his wife each morning a half hour concert. Richard and his wife loved gardening. His favorites were Peonies, Lilies, conifers, wild flowers. In 2013 he made a new bed of Cypripedium (Lady Slippers). The gardens were frequently on garden tours. Since high school Richard weight lifted, swam, was an avid stamp and coin collector. His wife loved to dance and they joined Tapestry Folk Dance Center, which he learned to love. That led to ballroom dancing. Since 1975 he swam daily at the Midway YMCA and missed it with its recent rebuilding. He ran a marathon and was an avid bicyclist. He attended a men's discussion group at Fairview Community Center. Many wonderful long-term close friends will miss him.
