Marien, Catherine O'Connor (aka Kak, Kay, Katy) 89, died Sunday, March 1 at Carondelet Village, St. Paul. Kak was raised on the O bar V Ranch, Sioux Pass, MT with 4 siblings and 12 cousins. She earned an education degree from U of MN and taught in the St. Paul school system for 41 yrs at Adams and Monroe schools including the ESL program at Highland. Kay loved her work with non-English speaking students and hosted parties in her living room to help students understand American customs and tutored them in her home. Katy and Vince married in 1952 and lived in Highland Park. Katy moved to Carondelet Village last year and enjoyed visits with friends and beloved Sisters of St Joseph. She was preceded in death by her husband Vince and her parents Anna Grant and Jim O'Connor. She is survived by her brother Jimmy O'Connor; sisters Allie Hulings; Jane McGarity; and Peg Franzen, her constant caregiver; numerous O'Connor, Grant and Ferrian cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren whom she loved with a vengeance. Visitation Sat, 9 am, Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2055 Bohland Ave, St Paul; Mass at 10 am and interment at Calvary Cemetery.
