Hietpas, Sally (Froehlich) age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, surrounded by Quentin, her husband of 60 years, and all of her seven children. Sara Jane Froehlich, better known as "Sally," was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was born on August 20, 1932 and grew up in St. Paul where she attended Holy Spirit grade school and St. Joseph's Academy. In 1951, she met Quentin Hietpas, the love of her life, and on November 27, 1954, they married. Over the next sixty years, Sally and Quent raised seven children, welcomed six new family members as their children married, and enthusiastically embraced the role of grandparents as their family expanded to include 17 grandchildren, a granddaughter-in-law and, most recently, their first great-grandchild. Sally's vocation was to be a wonderful wife and mother, roles that she excelled at. She taught her children about love, life, faith and integrity and, finally, how to leave this world with dignity and grace. Sally leaves behind her devoted husband, Quentin; daughters Sara (Tom) Gavin, Sue (Jim) O'Neill, Margaret (Tom) Endres, and Ellen (Dan) Bettenburg and sons David Hietpas, Tom (Sarah) Hietpas and Paul (Tanya) Hietpas. She also is survived by her grandchildren Ben, Erin, Ryan and Annie Gavin; Dan, Joe and Sara O'Neill; Quentin, Paige and Henry Hietpas; Emily Hietpas; Wini, Grace and Jack Bettenburg; Matt (Mona), Michael and Kevin Endres; and great-grandson Oliver Endres. Sally also is survived by her sister-in-law Ramona Hietpas; brothers-in-law, Richard Fleischhacker and Seldon Caswell; first cousin Frank "Bud" Flanagan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Paul and Sara Jane Froehlich; her sisters and best friends, Mary Ann Fleischhacker and Gretchen Caswell, brother, Paul Froehlich and treasured aunts, Rose Fox, Marian Flanagan, Clara Flanagan and uncle, Frank Flanagan. Sally's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, particularly her niece Ann Walters.
