Jean (Lawson) Zawistowski

Zawistowski, Jean (Lawson) age 69 of Golden Valley. Preceded in death by her parents, Irving & Edith (LaChapelle) Lawson. Jean held a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota which included a year of study at Sorbonne University in Paris, France. She returned to the States to teach French at Cooper and Armstrong High Schools in Plymouth, MN and for the past 37 years she was an Independent Sales Director for Mary Kay. Jean loved the Mary Kay philosophies of utilizing the "Golden Rule" in business practices because it so closely related to her religious beliefs as a Christian Scientist. She could truly look past the "dusty exterior" to see all of God's qualities in every person. Her simple words of praise could coax you to see "what you think about - you bring about", which expressed her own ideals of "you can do it" and "praise people to success". You could often find Jean with her head buried in a book or swimming in the lake where she found it to be the best place for her to commune. Above all, she loved helping people. She also loved her rescued dogs: Velcro, Max, and Blondie. With patience and dedication she loved and held a belief for people until they could love and believe in themselves. A commemoration of Jean's life will be held on Saturday, March 21 from 2-5pm at her home. A private interment will be conducted later this summer. Jean was a powerful, courageous, loving, spiritual, and beautiful woman. She will be missed and remembered by many. Jean is survived by: Nanette & Ada LaChapelle, Paul Jeffrey & Kris Zitzman, Marilyn Merino, Martha Kooiman, and many, many friends, neighbors, and church family members.
