Delvin Carol Menge

Menge, Delvin Carol was born Aug. 3, 1940 to Carl and Ida Menge in Beulah, ND and left this earth Feb. 18, 2015, surrounded by his family and an exceptionally compassionate staff at the VA Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN. Delvin's life of service began in his youth when he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Following high school, Del enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served from 1958-1961, stationed in Karamursel, Turkey and Bainbridge, MD. Following his service, Del graduated from the University of North Dakota, married Georgia Stephenson and moved to Tulsa, OK. There he graduated with a law degree from the University of Tulsa and began work as an attorney with Marathon Oil Company. More importantly, Delvin and Georgia had two children, Beth Ann and CJ (Carl John). Delvin's work with Marathon Oil took the family from Tulsa to live in Casper, WY, Robinson, IL, back to Casper, WY, and Houston, TX. Del especially loved living in Wyoming for the easy access to mountains, fly-fishing and weekend motorcycle excursions exploring historical sites all over the Rocky Mountain region. The second significant life chapter for Delvin began in 1991 when he met April Dombrowsky; they shared the next 22 years as loving partners, residing in the Twin Cities. Del especially cherished time spent with April's son David Roiger and his children Nick and Sarah, giving him the pleasure of being a grandfather. Del enjoyed working as a store manager and developing friendships with many at the Big Dollar Store and exploring Minnesota, especially along the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers, and the North Shore of Lake Superior. Delvin was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ida Menge, his brother Eldon Menge, and his love April Dombrowsky. Delvin is survived by his children, Beth Ann House (Gavin) of Forest Lake, MN and CJ Menge (Lindsey Rambo) of Austin, TX, as well as friends everywhere. Delvin Menge, you were a wonderful man and continue to be a beautiful spirit with much more in store for your journey. Those who knew you were fortunate to have you in their lives. You will be sorely missed but frequently celebrated. We all love you, soar far! Donations to honor Delvin's life may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (dvnf.org), a cause that he championed. Delvin's remains will be laid to rest at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery and his lasting memory will be formally celebrated in a service for friends and family in the late Spring.
