Zahn, Dena Prince Schmolke age 78, of Blaine died peacefully on January 30th, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. Dena was a social butterfly who loved to be around people, saying that she was never alone, not even in birth, which she shared with her twin sister. Born in Peoria, IL. April 26, 1936, she was the youngest of the 14 children of Wilson Otterbein and Verna (Cruise) Prince. The family moved to N. Mpls. when she was a young girl. Dena married Tom Schmolke in 1954, and they had nine children - Connie Kouzes (George), Cheryl Ayres (Kris), Tim (Julie), Ted (Mary), Tony (Amanda), Tom, Terry, Carla Habeck (Rick) and Colleen Erickson (Carl). Dena was the wise grandma to 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Her best advice - "Don't do anything you couldn't tell your grandmother." In 2003, she married Desmond Zahn. The two had 5 fun-filled years together before Des died of cancer in 2008. She was known to her many nieces and nephews as "Rich Aunt Dena", and she was very rich in beauty, spirit, and humor. Her young spirit will be missed by all. A "Celebration of Life" party will be held in her honor on Sat., Mar. 7th, 6 - 10 PM, at the Coon Rapids American Legion Post 334, 11640 Crooked Lake Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433. Dena asked that memorials be sent to the Make a Wish Foundation.
