Garrity, Elizabeth Ann (O'Neill) Passed away at her home in Edina on January 27, 2015, surrounded by family. Elizabeth, known to all as Betty, was born on December 20, 1925 to Margaret Viola and William Augustus O'Neill in Medford, Massachusetts. Both her parents and brother, William Gerard O'Neill, preceded Elizabeth in death. Betty earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Salem Teacher's College in Salem, Massachusetts in 1947 and taught business courses before retiring to raise her children. Betty is survived by her children, Janice Garrity (Yorktown, Virginia), Susan Garrity Harvey (Woodbury, Minnesota), William Garrity (Sacramento, California), Richard Garrity (Edina, Minnesota) and David Garrity and wife Valerie (Rocky River, Ohio). Betty leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Katharine Price (Jon), Ryan Allen, Richard Garrity (Sarah), Sara Harvey Anderson (Eric), Lara Weyl (Andrea), Shannon Garrity, William Garrity, Kellie Garrity, Heather Harvey, Joseph Garrity, Philip Garrity, Rebecca Garrity, and Alexandria Garrity. Additionally, Betty is survived by seven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Betty was a life long volunteer both at her church, Our Lady of Grace, and in the community at Fairview Southdale Hospital, the League of Women Voters, and Adoption Option Council of Minnesota. Betty was a long time member of Al-Anon. Voted wittiest girl in school, Betty will be greatly missed for her laughter and gracious spirit. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Our Lady of Grace Church, 5071 Eden Ave So., Edina, MN. Visitation will be one hour before services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Adoption Option Council of Minnesota at adoptionoption.org. Many thanks to the talented and compassionate nurses and aides from Fairview Hospice and Homecare who made Betty's last days comfortable and peaceful.
