Queensland, Kenneth age 87, of Blue Earth, died January 24, 2015. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Clark Cary officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation was Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 235 East 7th Street in Blue Earth, and one hour before the service at the church. pattonfh.com Ken was born August 10, 1927, in Jewell, IA, the son of Carl and Ella (Jacobson) Queensland. After serving a year in the US Navy he attended Iowa State College in Ames. Following a year of teaching in Radcliffe, Iowa he also served two years in the US Army. He returned to school earning a master's degree in education at the University of MN and then joined the Blue Earth school staff. After time as a teacher and assistant principal he became the Superintendent of Schools at the age of 31 and continued in this role for 30 years. He served as the president of the MN Association of School Administrators and was on the United Hospital board for 20 years, 8 as chairman. He was a board member of the local Wells Fargo bank, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and a long time Kiwanis member and past president. During his career he started the Blue Earth Educational Assistance Fund and was secretary for 30 years as well as an AARP tax aide for 20 years. He was involved in the local mentoring program and an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on several boards and 3 terms as president. Honors included the Jaycees Distinguished Service Award, Bush Fellowship for Educators, Sertoma Service to Mankind award and the Blue Earth Community Service award. He and Elloyce hosted 5 foreign exchange students. Fishing, traveling, golf, church and family were his interests. He was a kind and compassionate man of great faith, always available for anyone in need of assistance. Everyone he knew was treated with dignity and respect. His tactful leadership skills and flair for fun and humor were evident in his life. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Elloyce Queensland of Blue Earth, son Kent (Jane) Queensland of Shoreview, daughter Amy (John) Bobence of St. Louis Park, granddaughters Kelly (Adam) Fairbairn of Denver, Kristen Bobence of St. Louis Park and Katy Queensland of New York City. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marie Ann Queensland. Memorials preferred to ELCA World Hunger fund.
