William 'Bill' Beach

Beach, William "Bill" Lincoln 88 years old of Maple Grove, MN died in the afternoon of December 18, 2014. Bill was born May 4, 1926, the son of William Lincoln Beach, Sr. and Mabel Church. He was a wonderful husband to Nancy Lee Tower Bergquist Beach. Bill passed away after a long battle with cancer, pneumonia and COPD. He was preceded in death by second wife Nancy, sister Edith, mother Mabel, first wife Margaret and father William. He is survived by his daughter Carrie, son William, daughter-in-law Lori, daughter Leslie and 3 grandsons, Benjamin, Blake and William. He was a Private in the United States Army Air Force and served in the South Pacific on Kwajalein Island as a radio operator. After WW II Bill returned to the states and worked in the radio business in ND and MT and eventually was employed by N.W. Bell in Minneapolis where he met and married Nancy in the early 60's. They built a house in New Hope and shortly after he received a job transfer to Omaha, Nebraska. While in the Pacific Heights neighborhood many long lasting friendships were made and contact wasn't lost when he and the family were transferred back to Minneapolis in 1974. He worked for the phone company many years. He loved spending time up at Fish Trap Lake in Lincoln, MN and also at the hunting shack in Two Harbors. He loved to sing and had a fabulous voice. He was involved in several theater plays in his life including "Murder in the Old Red Barn" that played at the Dykman Hotel in Minneapolis where he earned more per week than his step-father did driving a city bus. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 22nd at The Banquets of Minnesota located at 6310 Hwy 65 NE in Fridley from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
