Michael Charles Quinn

Quinn, Michael Charles 44, skated off the ice for the last time December 13, 2014, after a courageous 8 1/2 month battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. A beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, Michael Charles was also an avid coach, hockey player and bicyclist. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Kessea Moses; stepdaughters Alex and Jessie Erickson; and devoted parents, Mike and Sara Quinn; sister Molly (Troy) Quinn Jensen; nephews Devon Quinn and Garrett Jensen; and niece, Alora Jensen. Mike's death also creates a large void for loving friends and a sizable extended family. Michael Charles Quinn was born September 7, 1970, in Wiesbaden, Germany. He grew up playing in the Fulton neighborhood of southwest Minneapolis, where the sound of his basketball hitting the backboard was a frequent refrain. Mike was known for a big smile and an outsized heart, always ready to help neighbors and friends. Mike graduated from Southwest High School in 1989 and the University of St. Thomas in 1994, balancing his studies while playing hockey for the Lakers and the Tommies. Mike took his bachelor's degree in marketing management into the workplace for Piper Jaffray, AllState, and Physicians Exam One. Most recently he co-owned MN Wellness Coaching in Oakdale, which reflected Mike's passion for an always-active lifestyle. Mike coached in the Bloomington Jefferson Hockey Association, the feeder program for the high school team. Much revered, he helped develop on-ice skills and off-ice values, instilling the ethic of hard work in his team of young players. After Mike was diagnosed in April, his friends founded the "In With Quinn" Facebook page, where they continue to share memories of good times and his kindnesses. Among Mike's wishes was that his friends gather to lift a glass and share good memories. Services will be December 19, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 7217 W. Broadway, Brooklyn Park. A celebration of his life will follow at 5:00 PM at Tiffany's Sports Lounge, 2051 Ford Parkway, Saint Paul. Memorials preferred to the 1-Day Ranch, 1dayranch.com and the Lymphoma Society, lymphoma.org.
