Malcolm McLean

McLean, Malcolm Age 87, of St. Paul, died peacefully in his home on November 19, 2014. He was born on April 23, 1927 in Duluth, MN to Charles Russell McLean and Mildred Washburn. He graduated from Yale University and had a distinguished career in the Foreign Service. He was President of Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin from 1971-1987. He later moved to St. Paul where he was President of the United Arts Council, before forming a long association with Compatible Technology International. He is survived by Wendy, his beloved wife of 58 years; children, Ian (Margaret), Lincoln, NE; Hugh (Mary Beth), Elmhurst, IL; and Christopher (Nancy), Berkeley, CA and grandchildren Katherine, Kevin, Derek, Eileen, Reed, and Helen. Preceded in death by his brothers, Russell and John and sister, Carol. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, at 11 am at the Macalester Plymouth Church, 1658 Lincoln Avenue, St. Paul, MN. Private interment. No visitation.
