Elaine Lois (Nemitz) Hallquist

Hallquist, Elaine Lois (nee Nemitz) age 94, died on November 19, 2014. She was dearly beloved by family and friends. Born on August 6, 1920 in Danube, MN, she grew up in Renville County. Upon graduating from the University of Minnesota, she moved to Illinois where she resided in Northbrook for 51 years. She retired to Bloomington, MN where she was a resident for 22 years. Recently she had moved to Franklin, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ivar Hallquist, her parents Herman and Marie Nemitz of Redwood Falls, MN; brother Leon Nemitz, and sister Phyllis Taylor. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Borrman of Minneapolis, MN; son, John Hallquist (Julie); son Tom Hallquist (Wesley Ann), and daughter Beth Marie Halvorsen (Russell); five grandchildren Katie Jones (Brandon), Annie Hallquist, Tate Hallquist, Chase Hallquist and Sarah Beth Halvorsen; and two great-grandchildren Charles Xavier Jones and Corbin Hunter Jones. A graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, Elaine served as a nurse during WWII, on a college campus, in hospitals, and with doctors in private practice. She served others by volunteering in church and schools, with special needs children, in hospice care, and at the Masonic Home. Her family appreciates the love and support of many friends and family members as well as stories of her impact. A celebration of her life will be held this summer at the time when her ashes will be buried in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
