Maxine Audrey (Amundrud) Tenney

Tenney, Maxine Audrey (Amundrud) 89, passed away Sunday, October 19th, 2014 at Edge wood Senior Living Community in Blaine, Minnesota. She was born October 31, 1924 in Fairdale, North Dakota to Selmer and Agnes Amundrud. She attended Fairdale Elementary and High school graduating in 1942. In 1947 Maxine married Philip Tenney at Aadalen Lutheran Church in Fairdale. In 1949 she graduated from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Soon after moving to Yuma, Arizona where she worked as a medical technologist. She and her family returned to the midwest, living in Walhalla, North Dakota and Larimore, North Dakota. Maxine and her family then relocated to Barnesville, Minnesota and later moved to Bemidji, Minnesota in 1965 where she earned an additional teaching degree from Bemidji State University. While living in Bemidji she was active in the American Association of University Woman, PEO CZ, and First Lutheran Church. She taught Biology at Stillwater High School in Stillwater, MN for a number of years. In her retirement she enjoyed time at her lake home in Park Rapids, Minnesota where her family loved to visit until 1992 when she relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee. In Knoxville she was active in her church and PEO AH, returning to Minnesota in 2005. She enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, reading, sewing and being with her children. Maxine is survived by her sisters, Junis Dostert and Oranda Wilson, children Meredith (Richard) Kehoe, Sidney (Thomas) Brock, Adriane (Robert) Dobbins, and Leslie (Bradley) Geving, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Edwina Lian and Benunie McIntee. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 25th at 10am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fridley, MN. Funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment will be on at 3pm Sunday afternoon on October 26, 2014 at Silvesta Cemetery in Fairdale, North Dakota.
