Sara Perlich Bye

Bye, Sara Perlich (Sally) Sally Bye passed away suddenly and unexpectedly September 27, 2014. Sally was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Ruth Kumpf, her brother Jim Kumpf, Neal Perlich and husband Billy Bye. She is survived by her siblings: John Kumpf, Sue Platou and Mary Bloomquist and by her children: Elizabeth Perlich Sweeney and husband Mike, Mary Perlich and John Perlich. Her grandchildren, Madeleine Bickel, David Bickel, Shannon Perlich, Holly Perlich, Dave Sweeney and Kate Sweeney were the light of her life. Sally's was a life well lived. Loving and being loved were at her very essence. Whether as a daughter, wife, mother or friend, she always had an open heart and open arms. When you were hugged by Sally, you knew you had been hugged. Sally was a Sunday School teacher, a Girl Scout leader and a dedicated gymnastics Mom. She was a model, a socialite, a generous hostess and the Chair of the Symphony Ball. Sally was an outdoors woman who hunted, fished, canoed, snowmobiled and cooked an unforgettable duck dinner. Sally was a beautiful woman with a heart of gold and a big smile, but underneath that beauty was a spine of steel. When the vagaries of life demanded it, Sally dusted herself off and persevered. At 57 she started in business as a greeting card rep. She succeeded financially but also, in her own very special way, created friendships that lasted the rest of her life. When tragedy struck and she lost her beloved Billy, Sally was devastated- and heartbroken but kept living a life that mattered. She taught us all how to live a life with grace and dignity. Sally touched hundreds of souls and she did it one at a time. She was an optimist who died with green bananas in her kitchen and love in her broken heart. She will be loved, missed, admired and emulated. Friends are welcome to join us in a celebration of her life at 2:00 on Friday, October 3 at the Wayzata Community Church and at a reception at 3:00 also at the Church.
