Peter Franklin Niemczyk

Niemczyk, Peter Franklin Died on Sep. 3, 2014 in Las Vegas at age 75, surround-ed by his family, after a long battle with Parkin-son's disease Born on Oct 17, 1938 to the late Peter and Florence Niemczyk, he was raised in St Paul, attended the University of Minnesota, and embarked on a long and distinguished career with West Publishing Co. before leaving Minnesota for the desert of Las Vegas in 1996, tempted by video poker and the craps tables. He enjoyed bowling, watching sports and dirt-track sprint-car racing, and spending long summers on the lake attempting to catch fish. He also dedicated countless hours ringing the bell for the Salvation Army each year with his daughter, Jenna. Left to cherish their memories are his devoted wife of 26 years, Patricia; brother, Gary (Mary Reier-son), and sister, Nancy (Ton) Handgraaf; three daughters and cherished sons-in-law, Robin (Mark) Fingerson, Jennifer (Michael) Sandell, and Nicole (Daniel) Rude; grandson and namesake Peter Niemczyk; the mother of his daughters, Mikelynn (Carl Long) Niemczyk; nieces and nephews, Susan (Bill Hughes) Olson, Tedd Olson, Michael (Kari) Niemczyk, Sara (Adam) Lehocky; Jackie and Charlie Larson, Marv and Greg Whitehurst, Tim and Sue Glander. He leaves behind a beloved extended family and devoted, lifelong friends. Heartfelt thanks to the many compassionate caregivers who helped Pete and his family on this journey, and especially to Bob Altmann, who gave his time and companionship selflessly to Pete and Pat through many challenging times. Pete leaves behind many stories, some heavy metal shelves, and great memories at Lake Mille Lacs where he spent summers with his wife, Pat. Our hearts are heavy, but there is much peace in knowing that Pete won his final earthly roll of the dice. Memorial Service at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 4600 Greenhaven Dr, White Bear, MN, Thursday, Sept 25, 12:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior. Luncheon to follow. Private interment.
