Judith Ann Sandberg

Sandberg, Judith Ann (Judy) age 72, pass-ed away peacefully at home on the evening of Wednesday, September 17th surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born in Minneapolis in 1941, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959. Frank E. Sandberg Jr., also a 1959 Roosevelt High School grad, married Judy in 1962 and they recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Judy was well known in the rail preservation community. She was a founding member of the Minnesota Transportation Museum, and was a board member and corresponding secretary for the Tourist Railway Association, a National Trade Organization. For the past 20 years she was a board member and administrator for the Minnesota based non-profit "Railroading Heritage of Midwest America, Inc.", owners and operators of a fleet of historic railroad passenger cars pulled by the world famous Milwaukee Road Steam Locomotive No. 261. She will be wholeheartedly missed by the vast family of members belonging to "The Friends of the 261". Judy was preceded in death by her parents John F. and Alvina Casey, and sister Patricia Taylor. She is survived by her husband Frank, children Catherine A. (Robert) Walker, Steven E. (Megan) Sandberg, grandchildren Julie Walker, Jason Walker, Anna Sandberg, and sister Janice Lund. A gathering of all friends and family to celebrate her life will be held at Jax Cafe, 1928 University Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418 on Friday, October 3rd from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorials preferred to the charity or non-profit of your choice.
