Sisson, Bernice Belair Born 1922 of St. Paul, MN. Died Septem-ber 18, 2014. Preceded in death by beloved husband of 56 years, John McCormick Sisson. Also preceded in death by 4 of 10 children, 2 as infants, John Eric 11 mo., Marie Annette 1 day. Two as adults, Kenneth 32, Catherine 37. Survived by 6 children Hilde, Lydwine, Angela (Lee), Paul (Karen), David (Doris), Joseph (Joan); twelve grandchildren; and many great-grand-children. Bernice worked as a LPN for 16 years, and was a member of international women's organization The Grail, since 1944. She worked in domestic abuse prevention programs for 40 years and helped found the first shelter for battered women in the country, Women's Advocates in St. Paul. She was also a member of many social justice organizations. Funeral Liturgy 11 AM Saturday, October 4th, 2014, at Spirit of St. Stephens Catholic Community, 2201 First Ave, Mpls. Visit one hour prior at church. Memorials preferred to St. Paul Intervention Project, 1509 Marshall Ave, St. Paul, MN 55104. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
