David Paul Brunet

Brunet, David Paul Age 67, passed away peacefully on Sept 15, 2014 after a long struggle with ALS and dementia. He was born in Hibbing, graduated from Burnsville HS and St. Olaf College, and then received his PhD from Columbia University. He was a writer and taught at the University of Wisconsin and St. Olaf College. He also worked in communications at State Farm Insurance. In 1992-1993 he was a Fulbright Scholar in Izmir, Turkey. David had a wide range of interests from singing to cooking to carpentry and bird watching, but his greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Elna and Paul. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria, of 45 years, daughter, Katharine (Troy) Hanson, sons John (Shannon) and Peter Brunet, grandchildren, Isaac, Lily, Ben, and Sarah Hanson, brother Dan Brunet, sister Elaine (Randy) Fredrikson, stepmother Lorraine White, stepbrother Gary (Kim) Robillard, stepsisters Nita Glenn and Laurie (Steve) Holasek, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 20th at All Saints Lutheran Church, 3810 Lexington Ave. S, Eagan, MN. Visitations will be from 5 - 7 P.M., Friday, September 19th at church and 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials to the ALS Association, The Gathering at Lyngblomsten, and All Saints Lutheran Church.
