Ross E. Bartz

Bartz, Ross E. 83, of Hopkins, Minnesota, died at his home on Saturday, August 30, 2014. Born June 13, 1931 in Chippewa Falls WI, Ross graduated from Chippewa Falls High School where he was class president, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in economics. While serving 2 years in the United States Army he married Joan Kothlow, his high school sweetheart. They were married for over 60 years. Ross and Jo moved to Minneapolis and he joined US Bank (then First National Bank) where he stayed for his entire banking career. He retired as Senior Vice President, Human Resources and was a past president of the Twin Cities Personnel Asso-ciation. Ross was a beloved co-worker and a valuable mentor. After retirement he continued to keep in touch with people whose careers he helped guide, and looked forward to meeting his friends for breakfast and lunch. Among his many activities Ross was treasurer of the Bellgrove Neighborhood Association. Ross demonstrated his commitment to the neighborhood by holding that position for over thirty years. As a 60-year resident of Hopkins, he served on the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission. Ross loved his dogs and his cars, even naming his dogs - always two beautiful boxers - after his cars. He especially enjoyed working in his yard. The flawlessly manicured yard that he and Jo maintained set an unattainable standard for the neighborhood. Ross is survived by his wife Joan, brother Keith (Carol), sister- and brother-in-law Sally and David Kocher, nieces Julie (Lars), Kristine and Cary, nephew Steve (Pam), and his beloved boxer, Mandy.
