Strot, Donald "Lefty" Born 5/4/30 to Raymond and Elsie Strot. Passed away peacefully on 8/26/14. Survived by his beloved wife, Patti Sotis Strot; brother, Raymond (Louisa) Strot; children, Nancy Strot, Sally (Eric) Sabathier, Sandra Greengard, Diane Corey and Daniel (Tammy) Strot; stepson, Gary (Maureen) Quick; stepdaughter, Sherri Quick; grandchildren, Emily (Peter) Mazalewski, Amanda (Dillon) Mundragon, Jonah Bogan and Josh Strot; step-granddaughters, Lennea and Janelle Quick; great-grandchildren, Vivienne Mazalewski and Dillon Zellmer. Preceded in death by his son, Steven Paul. Donald was a graduate of Roosevelt High class of '48 and served with the U.S. Marines 3rd Division as an expert rifleman during the Korean War. The highlight of his life was being able to return to Hawaii in 2011 and visit his base in Kaneohe Bay. His love for golf was a great part of his life as well as love of family, friends and his constant companion Podo. Working was a passion for Donald from the age of 14 until the age of 80. Starting as an acoustical tile installer, he went on to work for the State of Minnesota as an OSHA investigator. After retirement he worked at the Hyland Greens driving range for 15 years. The family would like to thank the VA Hospital, Community Home Health Care in Prior Lake and Asera Hospice Care. Celebration of life service will be held on Tues., 9/9 at 10 AM at Church of St. Michael, 16311 Duluth Ave. SE, Prior Lake. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Reception at Mystic Lake Casino following the interment. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church in Prior Lake.
