Mary E. Green

Green, Mary E. age 63, of Jacobson, MN, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her home. Mary was born in 1951 to Martin and Evelyn Green in Cloquet, MN where she also grew up and attended school. She attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and in 1981 she received her certification as an architect. Mary and Sherman Nelson met in the late 1970's and were married in 1983 and blended their families. Beginning in 1979, she worked as an architect at Opus Construction Company in Minneapolis. In 1989, she created her own company, Mary Green Consultants. In 1996, Mary became the president of Eclipse Architectural which does 100% of the Mayo Clinic's small projects. She also operated Eclipse Architectural in Deep Haven, MN. In 1995, Mary and Sherman made their home in Jacobson, MN. She was an exceptional artist and charcoal was her preferred medium. Mary also was very fond of dogs and adopted many "rescue" dogs and other animals. She also had a special concern for the needs of the children of Honduras. Preceding her in death were her parents; a step-son, Sherman James Nelson who died in 1990; and her beloved Meggan. Mary is survived by her husband, Sherman Nelson; daughter, Julie Miller of Coleraine, MN; three step-children, Leif Nelson of Chaska, MN, Michelle (Tom) Devereaux of Carver, MN, and Christopher Nelson of Eden Prairie, MN; sisters, Paula (Donn) Johnson of Fayetteville, AR, Kelly (Doug) Haffield of Wrenshall, MN and Christy (Dan) LaPrairie of Sawyer, MN; brother, Larry (Judy) Green of Aurora, MN; seven grandchildren, Sam and Kyra Miller, Logan and Drew Devereaux, Kaitlyn and Bailey Nelson, and Stephanie Nelson. Visitation will be Saturday, August 30, 2014, from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service at Carmel Lutheran Church in Jacobson. Pastor Mark Wagner will officiate.
