Daniel Paul Dowidat

Dowidat, Daniel Paul age 76, of Minneapolis, died on July 31, 2014, at the Minnea-polis V.A. Hospital from a pulmonary embolism. He was born on Feb. 9, 1938, in Cologne, MN. He graduated from Southwest H.S. in 1956. He received a bachelor's degree in Forestry from the U. of Minnesota and a master's degree in Theology from Bethel Seminary. He was employed for a number of years by the federal government as a land appraiser. During his retirement, he served as a lay minister. He also served as a chaplain for the American Legion for many years, and authored a number of religious books and articles. He is survived by his wife, Lorayne, two step-children, Cheryl (Richard) Stone and Steve (Susan) Chapman and their children, and a sister Adelle (Richard) Johnson of Madison, WI. Dan was a caring, generous, and good-hearted person, and a friend to all. A memorial service will be held at the First Covenant Church, 810 S. 7th St., in Minneapolis at 1 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 25.
