Shannon, John Lewis "Jack" age 88, of Wayzata, a loving husband, father and grandfather died on July 26, 2014. His beloved Jeanene (married for 63 years) died May 1, 2014. He is survived by children, Colleen (Jeff) of Arlington, WA, John (Katy) of Orono, Tim of Minnetonka, Kelly (Rick) of Chicago, IL, and Dan (Karen) of Minnetonka; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Born in Columbus, OH in 1926, Jack graduated from Bexley High School and The Ohio State University, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served in the United States Naval Reserves. Jack spent 30 years in retailing including F&R Lazarus, Broadway, May, and Donaldson Department Stores. Jack later joined Edina Realty, where he served the needs of hundreds of families over his 20-plus year real estate career. He received the prestigious Edina Realty Emma L. Rovick - the "Emmy" - Award, a best-in-class award for serving clients with honesty, integrity and a commitment to excellence. An accomplished athlete, Jack loved sports, especially tennis and golf. A quintessential Irishman, he had a friendly, larger-than-life personality, and endless charm. Jack's friends, "were the greatest gift - aside from family - that a man could ask for." His joy and appreciation for life is a gift that lives on in his family and friends. Jack gave back to his church, his community, and to those less fortunate through various volunteer and nonprofit leadership activities. A funeral mass will be said at St. Bartholomew's in Wayzata. A memorial service will be held at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata on Monday, August 4th at 10:00 am. The family requests that memorials be directed to Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.
