Dolores Jayn Sanner

Sanner, Dolores Jayn age 84, of Minnetonka died Monday, July 21, 2014. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years Allen Sanner, as well as her parents Edward and Bertha Fitzgerald, sister Audrey (Fitzgerald) Myers, brother Robert Fitzgerald, and daughter-in-law Martha DePecol Sanner. Dolores is survived by her son, Steven Sanner and Deanna Perry (Wayzata, MN); son Mark Sanner and wife Karen Ward (Quincy, MA); daughter Denise (Sanner) Safranek and husband Allan Safranek (Annandale, MN); grandson Tyler Safranek (St. Paul) and great granddaughter Charli Rose Peterson; brothers- and sisters-in-law Floyd and Peggy Sanner, Glenn and Harriet Sanner, Jan Sanner, Dennis and Muriel Keil and Carol Turner as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Dolores was raised in Orleans, MN and graduated from Lancaster HS. She went to nursing school at Franklin Hospital in Minneapolis and worked as an LPN at Thief River Falls Hospital. Dolores married her high school sweetheart, Allen, on July 8, 1950. They moved to Petaluma, CA where Allen was stationed with the Army Security Agency. She worked as a nurse at the Petaluma General Hospital. From 1974 - 1991, Dolores worked for District # 287 (suburban Hennepin County) as a special education and audiology paraprofessional. Dolores was a long time member of Oak Knoll Lutheran Church where she was active in Women's Auxiliary, taught Sunday School, catered weddings, served as wedding coordinator and served on the church council. She was currently involved in the Oak Knoll Wednesday sewing group and a member of the Red Hat Society. Dolores was an active volunteer with Ebenezer Hands and Hearts, as well as The Gathering (Alzheimer's support group at Oak Knoll). Her faith was a significant part of her life and her trust in God never wavered. Memorial service will be Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church, 600 County Road 73, Minnetonka with visitation at 10:00.
