Newcombe, James Pratt Newcombe, II

Newcombe, James Pratt II age 59 of Marietta GA; formerly of Minneapolis MN, Lake Forest IL, and Princeton NJ on July 14. He was preceded in death by his father, James B. Newcombe and brother, Christopher S. Newcombe. He is survived by his children, James Pratt Newcombe III of Princeton NJ, Laura Louise Newcombe of New York NY, and Elizabeth Grant Newcombe of Denver CO, his mother Patricia D. Newcombe and sisters Pamela Gault and Lisa Swann of Marietta GA, Robin Nelson of Burnsville MN, his former wife, Catie Fleming of Lambertville NJ, his lifelong friend, Tom Reindel of Fairfield CT, and many nephews. He especially enjoyed caring for nephews Alex and Ben Gault. Jim was an award-winning copywriter and creative director who launched his career in advertising at the Minnesota Daily in the late 1970s. He worked for a number of ad agencies in Minneapolis, among them Paragon, Bozell & Jacobs, Campbell Mithun, Young & Rubicam, and Rice & Rice. He also worked in Chicago at DDB Needham, Ammirati Puris Lintas, and Hal Riney & Partners Heartland, before moving to New York to work at Publicis. During his career he was fortunate to count some of the nation's foremost art directors and account executives as both his colleagues and friends. He loved his family, the Rolling Stones, and automobiles. Memorial services will be held in Marietta, GA and Princeton, NJ.
