Nilva 'Ginger' Wendorf

Wendorf, Nilva (Ginger) age 86, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 13th, 2017 at her residence in Arden Hills. She is pre- ceded in death of her husband Marvin Marion Wendorf and daughter Debra. Ginger is survived by her three sons, Mark (Joan), Karl (Susan), and Kurt (Debi); brothers Ted (Eileen) Alverson and Emory (Carol) Alverson. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Rachel, Tanya (David), Josh (Carmella), Nikki (Chris), Tanner (Angie), Jessica, Tess (Andy), Teri (Ryan), Andy, Lisa (Brett), Tim, and Max (Pennie), eight great- grandchildren, and numerous friends and family. Ginger was born Nilva LaVonne Alverson on August 17, 1931 to LaVelle and Esther Alverson in Fargo, North Dakota. She graduated from Clarissa High School. On December 23, 1950, Ginger and Marvin were married. They took residence in Long Prairie and New Brighton before settling in Mounds View to continue raising their family. Ginger worked as a paraprofessional at Sunnyside Elementary School in Mounds View for many years. After retiring, she lived in Shoreview for twelve years, spending valuable time with colleagues, family, and treasured friends. She also enjoyed many summers at the family cabin near Henning, Minnesota. The family would like to thank the staff of Presbyterian Homes (Johanna Shores campus) for their thoughtfulness and care for the last six years of her life and also Health Partners Hospice for their support. Also, they thank Legacy Home Care for their outstanding care and comfort in her final days. Services will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Arden Hills Presbyterian Home located at 3220 Lake Johanna Boulevard on Saturday November 18 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place starting at 9:30 AM. Luncheon to follow. Memorials preferred to the donor's favorite charity organization.
