Helling, Vincent E. Age 91 of Mpls. Died on November 11, 2017. Preceded in death by wife of 52 years, Joan; brothers, Jim and Bob. Survived by sons, Tom (Laurie), Dan, John and Ed; grandchildren, Carolyn, Allison, Madeline, Mitch and Amanda; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Helling; and sister, Mary Ann Keiffer; nieces and nephews. Vince graduated from Bethlehem Academy in Faribault, served in the Army Air Force as a cadet pilot and graduated from St. John's University in 1949. He married Carol Joan Nelson, whom he met at International Harvester. They raised 4 rambunctious boys in Southwest Minneapolis. Vince then worked for Ameriprise and Apache Corporation as an administrator of tax information. Vince enjoyed travel, bridge, biking, fishing, golf, hunting and raising Christmas trees on his beloved tree farm. His mind was sharp to the end. He and Joan enjoyed an active lifestyle in their retirement with their community at Carefree Country Club in Winter Haven, FL. They made many new friends and had fun together. Vince lived out his final years at Mainstreet Village and then Mt. Olivet Careview. He served as President of the Residents and was also loved by many visitors and caregivers at Mt. Olivet. We are grateful for the loving care Vince received. Many staff, friends and fellow residents came out of the woodwork to say goodbye on his last day and wish him safe passage to his eternal home with Jesus. Memorial service will be held at Mt. Olivet Careview Chapel, 5517 Lyndale Ave. So. Mpls., MN 55419 on Friday, November 17th at 10:30 AM with visitation one hour prior. Private interment at Fort Snelling Nat'l Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Mt. Olivet Careview.
