Zuiker, Simon "Sam" 95, Golden Valley, MN passed away August 17, 2017 at Maranatha Care Center. He is survived by his wife Carol; children Paul (Harriet) Zuiker, Neenah, WI, Kathryn (Russell) Gridley, Lee's Summit, MO, Jon (Debbie) Zuiker, Centreville, VA, Jennifer (Ben) Anderson, Richfield, MN; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Simon was born May 18, 1922 in Harrison, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Anna Maria Zuiker; 3 brothers and 6 sisters; son Michael John; and former wife, Dorothea. Simon served in the US Army in WWII. He was in the second wave of soldiers on D-day. He worked as a Business Agent for the IUOE, Green Bay WI, 1958-1968 and as a Federal Mediator in Minnepolis, 1968-1990. Sam will be remembered for his wit, wisdom, and kind generous heart. He was proud of his Dutch heritage, was a veracious reader, and lover of classical music and poetry. Funeral service Friday, August 25 at 11:00, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Minneapolis preceded by visitation at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church or Maranatha Care Center of Brooklyn Center.
