Janet grew up the daughter of Swedish speaking immigrants in a house her father built at 26th and Humboldt Ave. N. She attended North High School and sang A Cappella in the renowned North High Choir. Chorale music continued to be a large part of her life as she participated in church choirs and played the piano her entire life. Known by all as a most gracious woman, she deeply touched the lives not only of her family members but also of so many who came in contact with her as she served as a PTA president, a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Women's Club of Minneapolis, and Interlachen Country Club. Sundays at her lake home were always like a family reunion party for her 14 grandchildren. Remarkably while she remained fully active in their lives, Janet began a new career at age 64 when she joined her husband and son's start up medical research firm Applied Membrane Technology, Inc. Janet worked as Executive Assistant for over thirty years, retiring reluctantly at age 96. She had a passion for reading, often checking out several books a week from the local library. Always able to keep up with the latest news, books and technology, she loved learning to use her new MacBook Air computer. The entire family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Waters on 50th for the loving care Janet received these past two years, with special thanks to her caregiver and soul mate Wendy Callaway, our love, admiration and gratitude. Private interment services were held at Fort Snelling on August 3rd, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in Janet's name be given to Twin Cities Public Television.
