Hustad, Dorothy Helen May 6, 1922 - Aug. 7, 2017 age 95. Dorothy (Anderson) Hustad passed away peacefully on Monday morning, August 7, at St. Anthony Park Home in St. Paul, MN. She was born on May 6, 1922 in Minneapolis, the daughter of Elmer O. and Helen (Strong) Anderson. She was a graduate of Washburn High School and The University of Minnesota. She was preceded in passing by her parents and loving husbands, Thomas E. Pegg (killed in action during WWII in Germany) and John C. Hustad, Jr. Dorothy was devoted to her family and possessed a love of gardening, knitting, sewing, entertaining, and travel. She loved to laugh and tell a good joke. She was an early childhood teacher and a champion of education. Her long career in early childhood education included the development and direction of Hopkins Nursery School as well as positions in early childhood family education in Robbinsdale and St. Louis Park. She will be remembered as a loyal friend to many, a devoted wife and mother, and a loving grandmother and great grandmother. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Thomas (Sherry) of Bloomington, IN, Barbara of St. Paul, and Virginia Herriges (Richard) of St. Paul, four grandchildren, Kathleen Hustad (Derek Hester) of Minneapolis, John Hustad (Tara) of Hershey, PA, Daniel Herriges (Lauren) of Sarasota, FL, and Michael Herriges of Washington, D.C., and two great grandchildren Hannah Hustad and Cole Hustad-Hester. She will also be missed by good friend Judy Pappenfus. Services will be private with burial in Lakewood Cemetery alongside her husband John. The family would like to thank the staff, administrators and volunteers at St. Anthony Park Home.
