Gray, Ronald Joseph 80, passed away July 12, recently of Eden Prairie, formerly of Mound. He was preceded in death by his father, John Gray; mother Hazel (Asselstine); stepfather Augie Olenkamp; former wife Marie (Franks) Thompson; and son Jeff, Lt Cmdr USN. He leaves behind his devoted wife Jan and companion dog Leo; 2 daughters Cheryl Moore (Steve) and Paula Mitchell (Anthony); sister Shirley Dacey (John); 3 grandsons Cy Moore, J.P. and Tanner Mitchell; 3 stepsons Stephen (Molly), Randy, Chris (Tina); 2 step grandchildren Josh and Chloe; and many other relatives and friends. Of the Mound High School Class of '55, Ron's jobs included auto body work, delivering oil, snow plowing, construction work (owned a business), and driving a semi-truck (Ron's version of a "paid tourist"). He was a lifetime member of the 49ers. After Ron retired he continued to work as a trustee and maintenance man at Prairie Hill Church. He was actively involved in the church puppet ministry, building various sets and painting. He had many interests, including boating, motorcycling, having coffee with friends in his garage, tractor shows, Harbor Freight, yardwork, tinkering with his golf cart "Flip", John Wayne movies, and NASCAR racing. A celebration of life will take place Saturday August 19 at 1 pm, at Prairie Hill Evangelical Free Church 17200 Valley View Rd in Eden Prairie. 952-937-9593.
