Michael North

North, Michael age 55, of Edina, MN, entered the kingdom of heaven on July 16, 2017, after a year-long battle with cancer. Born July 15, 1962, in Minneapolis, MN, to Stephen North and Melodine North Davis (Stewart), Michael was raised in Edina alongside his beloved sisters. In 1981, he graduated from Edina High School, where he met his lifelong friends whom he cherished so dearly. His professional career spanned sales and service, as well as being Valley View Middle School's favorite "lunch lady," a stay-at-home dad, and a dedicated employee of Noran Neurological Clinic. Michael put equal parts heart and soul into his work, regardless of role, and lived by the mantra that whatever you do, do it well. Michael's greatest achievement was his family. He married his best friend, Janet, in 1999, and his children, Maxwell and Matthew, are his enduring legacy. Michael actively provided support, discipline, advice, and encouragement for his sons. He cheered them on for many years and over many weekends in basketball and baseball while equally supporting them in their church activities, academics, and volunteerism. He was also passionate about Minnesota sports, especially the Vikings, and was never a fair-weather fan. Win or lose, he tuned in every Sunday. Michael was the life of the party, the king of the one liner, and the genuine article. Always kind-hearted and positive, he was influenced by an unwavering belief in God. He valued his faith, which was foundational to his upbringing and a credit to the influence of his treasured mother. Michael is survived by wife, Janet; sons, Maxwell and Matthew; mother, Melodine Davis; sisters, Katherine (Joseph) Kearney, Julie (Chris) Sherman; many nieces and nephews, and his multitude of friends, whom he viewed as family. He is preceded in death by his father, Stephen North. A celebration of Michael's life is planned for July 27 at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. Service 1:00 PM. Visitation one hour prior. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
