McFarland, Dorothy Hall Heaven welcomed a beautifully precious angel when Dorothy Hall McFarland, age 109, quietly left this world in her sleep on June 17, 2017. Preceded in death by her parents, Stephen Edward Hall and Harriet Isabelle (Grissom) Hall, husband, Albert A. McFarland Jr., sister, Ermine Hall Allen, and niece, Myrrhene Dorothy Crawford. Dorothy graduated from Miss Stella Louise Wood's Kindergarten School in 1931 to begin a 25-year career as a pre-school teacher at Wilder Nursery School. She married her prince Albert in 1952 in a quiet ceremony in Chicago. Dorothy donated her time to many community service organizations: Martin Luther King Center, St. Paul Urban League, Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, and St. Paul NAACP. She was a long time member of Unity Unitarian Church in St. Paul. Although she never had a child of her own, she was a doting and loving mother figure to the children born into her family. Survived by niece, Marcheta Mines (Robert) of California, and 19 great nieces and nephews. Memorial service Saturday, July 29, 1:00PM at Unity Unitarian Church, corner of Holly Ave. and So.
