Orman, Allan D. PhD Al was born November 23, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, died May 25, 2017. Preceded in death by parents, Benjamin and Esther (Landy); first wife, Marilyn (Chemrinow); two infant sons, Jamie Blaine and Loren Andrew; and his late wife, Mary Jane Burns. Survived by his six children, Ashley (Linda Arroyo), Sarah (Steven Ellis), Rebecca (Olaf van der Horst), Spencer (Marnie Frisch), Seth (Rebecca Stern), and Rachel; and ten grandchildren. Al was an avid reader. His hobbies focused on baking, biking and gardening. Al earned a doctorate in Rural Sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Following employment with Iowa State University, he exchanged an academic career with one dedicated to Market Research. In 1975, he and Mary Jane Burns formed Orman Guidance Research, Inc. Al wanted to share the following gratitude: "Special appreciation to my six children and their family members, Burns family members, exceptional friends and relatives, Park Nicollet Hospice professionals and household aides who provided me support along the surprisingly long path at the end of my life."
