Viereck, Harold Albert Jr. "Hal" passed away peacefully in Hospice Care on February 21, 2017. He was 78 years old. Hal was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Harold Albert Viereck and Evelyn Lane Viereck. After receiving his History degree from the University of Wisconsin, he entered the U.S. Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant. During his 10 years in the military, he served his country in Vietnam, and earned the rank of Major. Hal then continued his service to his country in a variety of civilian capacities, including the U.S. Forest Service, the USO, and the U.S. Army Reserves. He also continued his education, receiving a Master's in Business from the University of Colorado, and taught Statistics and Business Communications in his free time. Hal was a gifted artist. While his first love was painting, he eventually gravitated towards marquetry, studying with the renowned Paul Spindler in Saint-Leonard France. Hal taught all his children, one of whom became an artist in his own right, how to draw and paint, and endowed all of them with a love of the arts. He also enjoyed travel, and spent much of his retirement touring the world with his wife Ella. Their travels ranged from countries as varied as Europe to India. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years Elsie Viereck and son Jeffery Donohue. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Ella Baldwin-Viereck; brother Wayne Viereck (Patricia); daughter-in-law Monica Donohue; son Jon Donohue (Raluca Semeniuc), Jason Viereck (Lani Lee), and daughter Jennifer Viereck, Grandchildren Erin Donohue Koehler (Phil Koehler), Shannon Donohue, Patrick Donohue, Henry Viereck and Athena Lee and Great Granddaughter Elsie Koehler. He is also survived by six Baldwin step children; Allen (Kathy), Rodney (Candy), Leland (Laurie), Clayton (Feng), Gordon (Cheri), & Charlotte Baldwin, eleven step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 21129 Old Lake George Blvd. N.W., Anoka, MN 55303 on June 3, 2017. The service will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a lunch.
