Donald L. Burton

Burton, Donald L. Age 90 of Bradenton, FL., passed away on April 24, 2017 after succumbing to cancer. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and was a Teacher and Principal in the Minneapolis school system for 31 years. He served in World War II with the Third Division in Europe. He is survived by his loving wife Ann and brother Bruce (wife Marlyse). Also survived by step-daughters Lynn Jessen (husband Tim), Susan Johnson (husband Neil), Sally Franke (husband David), grandchildren Becca Wittmer (husband Matt), Brian Jessen, Bailey Johnson, and Tyler Johnson (wife Andrea), great grandchildren Eloise and Oscar Wittmer, and Vera Johnson, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Byrldeen, son Thomas and sister Beverly Wychor (husband Walter). Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Ave S., Mpls., Assembly Area 4. May 3 at 10:15 AM. A celebration of Don's life will be at The Waters of Highland Park, 678 S. Snellng Ave, St. Paul following the burial at 11:30 AM. Donations may be made to the National Cancer Society or Our Lady of Peace Hospice Home, St. Paul.
