Penelope Michler Dvergsdale

Dvergsdal, Penelope Michler Our dear friend, Penelope Michler Dvergsdal let go of this world on February 4, 2017. She was a wonderful artist and entrepreneur who searched for beauty everywhere; she offered much of what she found in her amazing Minneapolis and St Paul shops, A Fine Romance and Polka Dots and Moonbeams (among others). Penelope's far-too-early farewell was due to frontal lobe dementia (FLD). This illness took much from her, but her spirit never dimmed. Although this would seem a tragic end, it wasn't. Because at last, she married the love of her life, Burton Dvergsdal, giving her life story a happily-ever-after ending. For most of the last four years, she and Burton explored, picnicked, gardened, joked, ate ice cream, making every day they had together an adventure. If they were together, they were holding hands. FLD slowly nibbled away her ability to articulate with words, but never erased her ability to be present and to love and even to giggle. The last words she could say were, "Love you." She was a fierce, brave person and a great believer in social justice. For those of us who were her friends, being loved by Penelope ranks close to the top among this life's treasures. Going forward, we humbly hold that Penelope could be listed as one of the chief synonyms for beauty. Penelope had three children and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on May 8, 11:30-1 p.m.
